BLMC has stopped supply chain recruitment with effect from 1 July. There is too little need for recruitment in a market where there are many suppliers, the supply chain specialist says, and the company therefore wants to focus completely on supply chain optimisation and interim management.

BLMC, which started supply chain recruitment in 2000, has seen the profession change considerably over the past 20 years. "The rise of the internet and networking platforms has made it easy for many companies to carry out recruitment themselves," says BLMC's Director Recruitment Paul Busé. "As a result, agencies are now only used for the complex executive roles. That is interesting, but there are simply too few of those in a market with many providers, especially in the current economy."

Change component

At the same time, BLMC saw an increasing need for consultancy and optimisation projects in supply chain management. The demand for specialised interim management in the field is also rising. With 20 years of experience, this is now BLMC's greatest strength, the company says in a statement, which is why it has decided to focus entirely on these services.

Michel van Buren, owner of BLMC: "Companies need to produce efficiently, be agile and continuously monitor and respond to customer requirements. This is only possible if you have your supply chain in good order. That is why we get more and more assignments in the field of supply chain optimisation: this can vary from improving a certain process to a total redesign of the entire supply chain, including cooperation with supply chain partners. We also see a change in focus within interim management. More and more assignments have a clear change component."

Latest recruitment assignments

The executive search assignments BLMC still has pending are currently being finalised personally by Paul Busé. Busé: "Supply chain positions are special: they require a special set of competences and a perfect fit with the company. I have always enjoyed making those unique matches. However, I also see that the market is changing. For BLMC, focusing on interim management and supply chain optimisation is a very logical choice at the moment."
