The Brexit does not only mean disaster for companies in transport and logistics. It is precisely in this sector that companies can benefit from the UK's departure from the European Union.
This is what René Buck of consultancy firm Buck Consultants International tells BNR. Companies in the transport and logistics sector would increasingly realise that the Brexit also offers opportunities.
"Overall, the Brexit is bad news, but opportunities arise in some sectors." Companies doing business with the UK would actually be busy right now. Many British and European companies are firmly bringing their extra supplies across the border to avoid traffic jams and port problems. "For example, a Rotterdam shipping company works around the clock because of all the sailings to and from the UK," explains Buck.
UK House of Commons votes on Brexit deal
Meanwhile, an exciting week awaits the EU and the UK. The two earlier struck a deal on the terms of the Brexit, scheduled for the end of March 2019. The UK Parliament will give its verdict on the deal on Tuesday, with many MPs already expressing their dissatisfaction with the deal. The deal is expected to be scuttled in the UK House of Commons.
For its part, the EU has already signalled it will not sit down with the UK again if the House of Commons rejects the deal. "Then there are only two alternatives, no deal or no Brexit," EU President Donald Tusk said.
