Coolblue delivered by bike in Belgium for the first time this week. Antwerp got the scoop for CoolblueFietst. Other major Belgian cities will follow later this year.
For CoolblueFietst, the online giant offers next-day delivery. Customers choose a one-hour period when placing an order. Fifteen minutes beforehand, they receive a text message with the exact delivery time.
Coolblue's physical shops serve as a logistics hub, with a bicycle courier picking up the package at one of the shops and delivering it to the consumer. Customers can directly bring their old appliances and batteries.
Coolblue has been cycling in the Netherlands since April this year. It started doing so in Eindhoven and The Hague, after which it steadily expanded to other cities. "There will be more blue on the streets," director Pieter Zwart joked at the launch of CoolblueFietst at the time.
