It looked as if Coolblue wanted to fool us again a few days ago with a 1 April joke. The opposite turns out to be true: Coolblue really is going to deliver by bike. In Eindhoven and The Hague, CoolblueFietst has been active since Monday.

Coolblue launched a press release - including a playful video - around 1 April about the introduction of bicycle delivery. Coolblue's bicycle deliverers would pamper parcels quite a bit prior to delivery. The message was reminiscent of Coolblue's April 1 pranks in previous years: from mini warehouses to Package Huggers. On Monday, Coolblue's Pieter Zwart revealed that there will indeed be "more blue on the streets". "The joke is, it's not a joke," Zwart said.

Coolblue has been cycling in Eindhoven and The Hague since Monday, eventually expanding the service to all major Dutch cities. Next-day delivery also applies to CoolblueFietst. Customers can choose a one-hour period for delivery, and the parcel will be picked up at one of Coolblue's physical branches and delivered to the consumer.

The e-tailer is still looking for 250 deliverers for CoolblueFietst.
