D66 advocates a notification that warns consumers about the amount of CO2 emissions caused by a return shipment. In doing so, the party wants to work towards greater awareness.
"I know stories of people who order 40 pairs of shoes and return 39. We all have to drive vans to do that," said D66 MP Rutger Schonis in the Telegraaf. Schonis asked state secretary Van Veldhoven (Infrastructure and Water Management) to talk to the industry.
The state secretary says he is already in talks with the industry on making delivery more sustainable. For instance, extensive information about a particular garment should prevent customers from buying the wrong size and returning it.
