Volkswagen and DHL Parcel are expanding their cooperation, with the roll-out of the 'We Deliver' service, which will see the car manufacturer and the delivery service deliver parcels to the boot more often.
So write German news site Express.de. Volkswagen drivers will in future be able to register their car with DHL as a delivery location. The delivery driver will see via GPS where the car is parked and deliver the parcel to this location. With a unique code and the app, the delivery driver will open the boot. This can only be done within the time period selected by the recipient.
Trial among 50 motorists
Last year, DHL Parcel and Volkswagen already tested the service with 50 motorists. They were allowed to drive a Volkswagen Polo for four weeks while using DHL Parcel's service.
'We deliver' expansion
Volkswagen now plans to implement the boot technology in more models. From 2019, the technology will be available for selected series. Previously, DHL Parcel collaborated with Daimler and Audi for boot delivery.
