US company eBay is to produce its own packaging for merchants who sell through its website. The company hopes that this way consumers will more often get eBay's company name under their noses.
Merchants can buy boxes, envelopes and tape bearing eBay's logo. The envelopes and boxes come in different sizes and are suitable for sending orders. "We are keen to save our merchants costs in an ecological and convenient way," explains Manish Joneja of Ebay. "At eBay, we are constantly researching how we can further grow our sellers and help them transport orders smarter."
Post office
eBay's packaging is available at a specially set up post office recently launched by eBay. It is not a physical shop, but an online platform called: eBay Shipping Supplies. Meanwhile, 480 merchants have joined the platform.
What does it cost
For 25 boxes, retailers pay 13 US Dollars. One hundred envelopes are available from US$18. As an extra service, orders will be shipped to retailers free of charge.
