Workers in transport and logistics earn less since the corona crisis. Over 33 per cent have lost out in income, with 9 per cent suffering an income loss of more than €500 a month.
That's according to a survey by trade union FNV among 600 members. The results show that the corona crisis has had a major impact on the number of hours worked and thus on wages. More than 40 per cent say they are working fewer hours than in January, before the corona crisis broke out. 12 per cent of respondents are actually working more hours.
For 33 per cent of employees, this results in a loss of income. More than 60 per cent say they earn about the same amount net. 6 per cent of respondents earn more due to the current pandemic, with 20 per cent of employees saying they are worried about the company and their jobs. One in three employees are additionally worried about their personal financial situation.
It is striking that many employees do not know whether their employer uses the NOW scheme, under which entrepreneurs are reimbursed up to 90 per cent of their wage costs. Two in three respondents have no idea. A bad development, argues FNV. "Surely you should expect employers to keep their employees informed of developments. Apparently, at a large number of companies this does not happen or not enough."
