Dirk van den Broek has plans to roll out its online operations further. The supermarket chain recently launched a webshop to accommodate residents of Volendam after a branch of the supermarket burned down. If the first online shop proves a success, online operations may be expanded.

The fire forced the company to improvise. That led in a short time to an online shop with a pick-up point where customers could collect their ordered products. The supermarket chain's opinion, meanwhile, is that a contemporary supermarket cannot do without an online shop. The rapid roll-out has given the company confidence to expand other activities. Other supermarkets preceded Dirk van den Broek and already have an online shop and delivery service.

Volendam
Volendam customers can now (temporarily) order their groceries online. These are then prepared at the head office in Hoofddorp and delivered to the pick-up point in Volendam. The supermarket group thinks a delivery service could be the next step, but whether it will come to Volendam first is not yet clear. Rapid development of new online activities does not seem to be ruled out.
