Frigo Breda is moving to the Port of Moerdijk. There, the logistics service provider has access to an area of 5.8 hectares and its own 300-metre quay. A new water-bound refrigerated distribution centre will accommodate 70,000 pallets.

At the newly built site in Moerdijk, Frigo Breda will deal with the storage and transhipment of refrigerated and frozen products by water, rail and road. The distribution centre will have 31 loading docks and eight large cold stores. For Frigo Breda, which now has a capacity of 37,000 pallets spread over six locations, the Moerdijk site represents a significant expansion. It will also become the company's new headquarters.
On the quay will be realised a storage for refrigerated containers with reefer plugs for cooling full containers. The company is also working on an External Border Inspection Point (BIP) of the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority, where import goods such as of fish and meat in containers in Moerdijk can be inspected.
Transport by water and rail
"In our new cold storage and freezer warehouse, we have a large storage and transhipment capacity at the waterfront and a short connection to major seaports Rotterdam and Antwerp," explains Reinier van Elderen, director of Frigo Breda. "In addition, there is a rail connection that allows us to bring in goods from all over Europe and transport them to their final destination via water, among other things. It is precisely by making more use of water and rail that we reduce traffic jams-prone road transport to and from Rotterdam and Antwerp."
