Coolblue is experiencing extraordinary growth. While more and more physical shops have to close their doors and webshops see their sales rise, at Coolblue it is the other way around. In fact, the electronics retail chain's five physical shops continue to grow. The group is thinking about expanding the number of stores.
CEO Pieter Zwart told BNR that the physical shops are doing even better than the webshops. This is not only the case in our country, also in Belgium the shops are ahead of the online shops. According to Zwart, this is mainly because a certain group still enjoys being helped in a shop rather than making a purchase on the Internet. While other shops are falling over and going bankrupt, Coolblue's strength, according to the CEO, lies in the website where the physical shop is an extension.

Coolblue is committed to international expansion and thus already opened a shop in Belgium. A requirement of the electronics retail chain is that the country must resemble the Netherlands in terms of consumer landscape to get off the ground. Expansion to Germany, for example, is thus less obvious. Belgium was a more logical step, Zwart believes: "A large part of our turnover comes from Belgium."
