H&M is testing same-day delivery in Berlin. Consumers who place an order before 10am will receive their parcel the same evening.
In a press release, H&M writes that it is currently testing the service in Berlin. If the response is positive, expansion to other cities will follow. Consumers pay 5.99 euros for same-day delivery at the fashion retailer. This is only 1 euro more than for regular orders. If an order is placed after 10:00 and before 22:00, next-day delivery follows.
Long delivery times
H&M's trial in Berlin comes after a long period of criticism from European consumers. Online, many complained about the Swedish fashion house's long shipping times. In the Netherlands, online orders have been shipped from its new warehouse in Tilburg since last year. Still, it usually takes several working days for customers to receive their packages.
Shipping costs
Moreover, at H&M, consumers pay a standard 4.99 shipping fee, something most fashion retailers no longer bother with. With the introduction of same-day delivery and the expansion of next-day delivery , H&M now seems to be looking to compete with its online competitors like Zara and Zalando.
