Homerr opens new sorting centre and starts working with a modified distribution model. From the new hall in Breda, the scale up will distribute parcels to both the Netherlands and Belgium. The run-up, from concept to relocation, took the company just three months.

The new location involves a property of 11,000 square metres. According to the founders, Breda is the ideal location to send parcels to both the Netherlands and Belgium. "By using the new sorting centre, we are further capitalising on the growing e-commerce market and our growth" says Mark-Jan Pieterse, Co-Founder of Homerr. "Thanks to its central location in Breda, sorting for the Belgian market will also take place here from now on. We achieved this entire transformation, from finding the location to running it operationally, in three months. A unique achievement."

New distribution model

Homerr has been working with local transport partners since September so that parcel distribution can be better managed. From the various depots, parcel deliverers hit the road to deliver parcels anywhere in Belgium and the Netherlands. The couriers use a newly developed driver app, which, according to Homerr, enables smarter, centralised and more sustainable point-of-supply organisation. Based on smart algorithms, things like delivery frequencies are adjusted automatically.

Parcel points

As a parcel service, Homerr exclusively uses a network of parcel points. These points are divided into Neighbourhood Points and Service Points, where consumers can send or drop off parcels directly. Carriers drive there directly and thus do not have to deliver parcels to homes.
