The meatballs from home furnishing giant IKEA are being delivered to homes since today. In Groningen, the Swedish home furnishing shop has joined forces with Thuisbezorgd.nl.
Consumers can place an order with IKEA's food department between noon and eight in the evening. Much of the IKEA menu is on Thuisbezorgd.nl. Only breakfast products are not home delivered.
With the collaboration, IKEA is responding to the popularity of the food offering in its shops. In trade magazine RetailTrends, the company previously stated that 20 per cent of global shop visitors come just for the food.
It is unclear whether the service will be extended to other cities in the near future.
