Ingram Micro's logistics arm will largely be owned by CMA CGM. The French company is buying Ingram Micro Commerce & Lifecycle Service, which handles logistics for the likes of bol.com and de Bijenkorf.
CMA CGM is laying down $3 billion for the acquisition of the fulfilment player. With this, it is buying SaaS platform Shipwire and the bulk of its logistics acitivities in North America, Europe, Latin America and Asia-Pacific. The remaining parts will remain owned by Ingram Micro.
Largest player in contract logistics
The French shipping company already absorbed CEVA Logistics in 2019, so now Ingram Micro will follow. With the acquisitions, CMA CGM hopes to increase its logistics clout to optimise customers' supply chains. The combination of CEVA Logistics and Ingram Micro will make CMA CGM - with around 9,000 employees at 1,100 locations - the largest provider of contract logistics worldwide in one fell swoop. Ingram Micro's operations will be integrated into CEVA Logistics after the acquisition.
