Parcel delivery company Instabox (formerly Red je Pakketje) places parcel safes at branches of fitness chain Basic-Fit. Initially, 55 lockers are involved.
According to Instabox, the gym's extended opening hours are ideal for parcel collection. The parcel lockers are not only accessible to Basic-Fit members, local residents can also collect their parcels ordered online here. "Basic-Fit is by far the largest fitness chain in the Netherlands and Basic-Fit's clubs are always in centrally located locations," said Sam Rohn, general manager of Instabox Benelux. "We increase convenience for consumers and reduce our CO2 emissions at the same time. After all, delivery in parcel lockers is more efficient. "Initially, 55 parcel lockers will be installed. This should become more in the near future.
Instabox is betting on automated parcel safes in the Netherlands, a service that is still in its infancy here. The Swedish company - which last year acquired Red je Pakketje - has already gained a lot of experience with parcel safes in Scandinavian countries. In the coming years, Instabox therefore wants to place 2,000 to 3,000 parcel safes in the Netherlands.
