Supermarket chain Jumbo will start Sunday grocery deliveries this month. With an extra delivery day, the chain hopes to spread the rush better.
The extra delivery day applies to some 250 shops in North Holland, Central Netherlands, North Brabant and Zeeland. Jumbo delivers the groceries from hubs in Amsterdam, Breda, 's-Hertogenbosch, Middelburg and Utrecht.
The supermarket chain sees continued growth in online orders and hopes to serve more customers with Sunday deliveries. A new e-fulfilment centre in Bleiswijk is planned for early 2021, further expanding capacity.
The delivery service will start on 13 September. Delivery on Sunday costs 7.95 euros and customers can place their orders until Friday midnight. According to Jumbo, this is a trial for the time being.
