Due to a fire in one of the warehouses in Vroomshop, Kees Smit Garden Furniture's operations have been halted for the time being. The two shops and the webshop are closed at least until Wednesday.

On Liberation Day, a fire broke out in one of Kees Smit Tuinmeubelen's five warehouses in Overijssel. The fire reduced 1,600 square metres of storage space to ashes. Staff were able to leave the premises in time, leaving no one injured.

The material damage turned out to be much greater than initially expected a few days after the fire, with the power and internet outages hitting processes. We have decided to close the shops and the web shop until the middle of next week. This is really chopping it up," owner Henk Smit told Tubantia. "We had the idea that we would be 'up and running' again soon, but it is taking longer."

Kees Smit Garden Furniture dares not make any promises to customers about deliveries. "The stock we have now is not like: Just order. We don't want to make promises we can't keep towards our customers."

The retailer hopes to resume online sales and open the shops in Almelo and Amersfoort by the middle of this week. Orders placed before the fire will be partially delivered. In other cases, customers will be contacted.
