Due to a shortage of staff, 41 per cent of entrepreneurs experienced an obstacle to business activities in the second quarter of 2019. Meanwhile, the number of employees in logistics has been rising for 21 quarters in a row.

This is according to the latest Transport and Logistics Sector Monitor, conducted by the Transport and Logistics Sector Institute. The sector had 153,853 employees in the second quarter. "Good news is that the number of companies, employees and drivers continues to increase. At the same time, the labour market remains (very) tight," the Sector Institute said.

Obstacle in activities

The percentage of entrepreneurs experiencing obstacles due to the tight labour market has never been so high before."The number of vacancies for truck drivers, transport planners and logistics workers is at a high level. With that, the shortage of staff hinders many entrepreneurs in their business activities."
