Startup Homerr has received a 1 million euro capital injection. With the investment, the logistics e-commerce startup hopes to accelerate its network of pick-up points. "The industry is yearning for smart, new solutions for last-mile delivery," said investor CNBB Venture Partners.
Homerr offers an independent network of Neighbourhood Points (private individuals) and Service Points (retail). These points act as local hubs to which customers can send their parcels directly. This allows orders to be picked up in the neighbourhood at a time convenient to the consumer, including after office hours.
Goal: 5,000 Service and Neighbourhood Points
The startup is currently working with more than 600 locations in the 30 largest cities in the Netherlands. Eventually, that network should grow to more than 5,000 Service and Neighbourhood Points. Neighbours can indicate via an app that they are willing to receive packages for neighbourhood members for a small fee. In addition, local retailers, such as hairdressers or coffee shops, may also join the network.
Strong change in parcels market
The €1 million investment comes from CNBB Venture Partners and a group of private investors. According to Arco van Nieuwland, managing partner of CNBB, the parcels market is going to change significantly in the coming years. "The industry is yearning for smart, new solutions for last-mile delivery. Homerr offers a solution for carriers, web shops and consumers alike. We especially want Homerr to benefit from our knowledge and experience in scaling networks."
