Linde Material Handling markets a safety vest that allows warehouse workers to maintain a one-and-a-half-metre distance between themselves. When a colleague comes within a radius of one and a half metres, the vest gives a warning signal by lighting up, vibrating and making a sound.
In addition to the Secure Distance Vest, Linde is also launching the Distance Beeper. This small device works almost identically to the Secure Distance Vest, but can be attached to employees' clothing. For both devices, Linde uses ultra-wideband technology. A tracing function can be selected. In case of a possible infected colleague, this function makes it clear which colleagues were recently in his or her vicinity. This way, companies can avoid having to quarantine the entire workforce. All data is deleted after four weeks at the latest.
Linde Safety Guard system
Both systems are based on the Linde Safety Guard system, which, among other things, warns when a collision is imminent between a forklift truck and a pedestrian. This allows both safety solutions to be converted to the Linde Safety Guard after the Covid-19 pandemic. Conversely, Linde customers with the Safety Guard can have this system converted to Secure Distance Vest or Distance Beeper.

Unconventional thinking
"Times like these require unconventional thinking," says Andreas Krinninger, CEO of Linde Material Handling. "With our Secure Distance Vest and the Distance Beeper, we have adapted an advanced system to new conditions and offer companies an easy-to-implement method to combat contamination and ensure productivity and continuity. Both solutions are already successfully deployed at several of our own sites - and we also receive very positive feedback from test customers."
