Entrepreneurs Wim Beelen and Robert van der Wallen are investing 160 million euros in the development of a logistics centre in the Amsterdam port. From the hall, the entrepreneurs want to bundle distribution flows and supply the capital via the canals.

With an area of 125 thousand square metres, the Amsterdam Logistic Cityhub will be one of the largest logistics centres in the Netherlands. To the Financieele Dagblad, the Beelen and Van der Wallen tell that they want to deliver parcels, building materials and catering supplies more sustainably via the distribution hub. Smart bundling of supplies means fewer trips or boat rides to the city.

The Amsterdam Logistic Cityhub on the North Sea Canal should provide space for around 30 companies. The entrepreneurs are betting on transport by boat. Among other things, an electric boat has been developed for this purpose. Electric busses will also be used. Beelen and Van der Wallen will actively look for tenants in the coming period. "Coolblue, bol.com, Heineken, anyone can park with us," says Beelen.

VolkersWessel is handling the construction of the distribution hub. Completion is scheduled for mid-2021.
