Start-up Parcify wants to make convenient use of Amsterdam's abundance of water. Kayaks and paddle boards will deliver packages in the capital.

Belgian start-up Parcify says it has found an ecological solution to the many delivery vans in the Dutch capital. Special couriers will be hired, who will test deliveries in the canals using water vehicles such as kayaks and paddle boards for a month. The orders will be delivered by a large ship close to Amsterdam; the couriers will bring them into the city.

Daan Giesen, head of growth, of the company, explains to Twinkle that delivery via water is the most reliable and ecological way to get parcels to the customer. 'We ensure that people can continue to shop online and have a positive impact on traffic and the environment.'

Mooring spots
Not all parcels are suitable for delivery via kayak or paddle board. It is not known what the start-up has come up with. Also, not everywhere are mooring spots in the canals where people can get off. The start-up did not reveal anything about this either.

Parcify works for major customers like bol.com and Zalando in the Netherlands. Since September 2016, the start-up has been active in Netherlands
