From mid-October, Picnic will take parcels from DHL throughout its Dutch delivery area. The rollout of the collection service had been delayed due to the corona crisis.
The online super states this to Distrifood. Picnic announced the service earlier this year. The collaboration with DHL was due to start in Gouda and Zoetermeer in April. "Due to corona, it has been postponed slightly, because from mid-March to 1 June we did not take any return streams from customers because of contactless delivery," said Picnic spokesman Romke Spierdijk.
The project picked up after 1 June and is now being rolled out nationwide. Customers can now give their DHL shipment to a Picnic delivery driver. This can be a return parcel, but also another parcel that needs to be sent, and it involves parcels that fit in a Picnic crate. Customers must put their parcels in the crate themselves, so there is no physical contact between runner and customer. The online supermarket then delivers the shipments to DHL.
