Online shopping service Picnic is going to take back library books in Houten. The service should not only make borrowing library books more accessible, but also reduce consumers' car mileage, Picnic explains.

To this end, Picnic is collaborating with public library Lek & IJssel, a popular library in Houten, IJsselstein and Vianen. In Houten, 12,000 people are members of the library, over a quarter of the population.

For now, this is a pilot to test the combination between grocery delivery and book pick-up, and if it proves successful, Picnic wants to start offering the service in more cities later in the year. Moreover, it also wants to start delivering library books then.
