Supermarket chain Plus is introducing same-day delivery of groceries from now on. Consumers can also choose to have the order prepared so it can be picked up the same day.
The new service, dubbed Plus Express, was initially rolled out on a small scale. Only four supermarkets in Utrecht, Maarn Waarder and Venray offer the service. The quiet start of the service is a conscious choice so Plus can further optimise the service before other cities also step in.
Process and prices
The customer places an order online, which the supermarket then prepares immediately or delivers the same day. If the local supermarket does not have a particular product, the customer cannot order it either. Plus has been delivering groceries for some time, but has broken new ground with same-day delivery. If the consumer wants to collect the groceries the same day, it costs EUR 5. For fast same-day delivery, customers pay 8.50 euros.

Tamara Smith-Zonneveld, e-commerce manager, notes that the demand for the fast delivery service is becoming increasingly popular. According to her, the fast delivery service is an additional service to the already existing ordering and delivery offer in which over 190 shops of the supermarket chain participate. Groceries can be picked up in almost 100 shops.
