SendCloud, developer of software for e-commerce logistics, has won the German-Dutch Prize for the Economy 2017. In doing so, the start-up from Eindhoven leaves 33 other candidates from both countries behind. The award was presented for the tenth time this year by the German-Dutch Chamber of Commerce (DNHK). For the first time, the focus this year was on start-ups.
SendCloud developed a tool that allows webshops to process orders faster and offer their customers more shipping options. The company handles the entire shipping process, from printing the right postal label to return shipping. Small companies in particular, which cannot negotiate good conditions as easily as large players, can benefit from this.
Founded in the Netherlands in 2012, SendCloud is now among the top 30 most successful European tech start-ups. Since 2015, German web shops have also been able to use the software. "SendCloud is a fantastic example of a fast-growing start-up, which has managed to get the successful start also in the neighbouring market through its services," says DNHK director Günter Gülker.
Besides SendCloud, three other companies were nominated for the award: the Amsterdam-based start-up 3D Hubs, which offers an online platform for 3D printers and services, the Berlin-based online media company Divimove and the north German tech start-up for a new cable laying technology, AGS-Verfahrenstechnik.
The German-Dutch Prize for the Economy is an award for companies that stand out or show special results in cross-border business.
