Companies in the UK are increasingly diverting to the Netherlands as the uncertainty surrounding the Brexit continues. Meanwhile, 98 companies made the move to our country. The majority are said to be looking for certainty in terms of logistics.
This reports the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA), which assists companies in moving to the Netherlands. This year, 38 companies chose to move to the Netherlands, which is almost as many as in all of 2018. Another 325 companies are thinking about moving their operations to the Netherlands. There were 250 at the end of last year.
Access to European market
At first, it was mainly media companies or financial institutions, which were in danger of being squeezed because of legislation. Now, companies are mainly relocating for logistical security and to attract staff. These mostly international companies are reviewing their strategy because of the necessary access to the EU. The NFIA notes that the Netherlands is well placed in this consideration. From our country, logistics facilities, English-speaking population and digital infrastructure allow companies to continue doing business in the European Market with certainty.

Many companies wait and see
Yet many companies are still waiting for the answer as to how Brexit will finally take shape, and what that means for the logistics chain or the free movement of people, for example. "Our experience shows that when a Brexit deal gets further out of sight and the likelihood of a no-deal increases, more companies report to us," NFIA director Jeroen Nijland told newspaper Trouw.
