Thuisbezorgd.nl has struck a major blow. The website where consumers can order food from restaurants online has acquired competitor Just Eat in the Netherlands and Belgium. Thuisbezorgd.nl reports this on its website.
Thuisbezorgd.nl will become the largest restaurant network in the Netherlands and Belgium by acquiring industry peer Just Eat. Parent company takeaway.com already had a foothold in Belgium with the website pizza.be. Takeaway.com is also active in Germany and Poland and 30,000 restaurants worldwide are currently affiliated with the website. The Just Eat website will remain on the air for some time, but will later start redirecting to Thuisbezorgd.nl or pizza.be.

More activities
CEO and founder of Thuisbezorgd.nl Jitse Groen says in a press release: "We are very excited to take over the Benelux activities of Just Eat. The operations are a good addition to our existing activities in the Netherlands and Belgium and will further strengthen our leading position in these markets."
Competition
Competition in the delivery market is significant after Foodora and Deliveroo entered the market. Takeaway.com now hopes to gain a bigger share in the Netherlands and Belgium by offering consumers a wider range of products. Takeway.com also has ambitions to go public.
