Fresh-faced logistics company Packaly is starting hourly delivery in Utrecht. The startup brings parcels from warehouses and shops by bike to customers in the Dom city.

Founders Axel Dekker, Adrik Elzing and Niels Nijhof want to make on-demand delivery available not only for food, but also for non-food products. "Many products we order online are also on the shelves at shops. Every day, several delivery vans carrying online orders drive from large warehouses to the inner cities, after which they deliver products that might also be available a kilometre away," Dekker said.

Shops can integrate Packaly into their online shop and offer it in the checkout process. Customers pay 4.99 euros for this delivery option. They are sent a track & trace code after checkout with information about the shipment. The shop arranges for the products to be collected, after which the Packaly courier picks up the package and delivers it to the customer within an hour.

Packaly will launch on 1 August. During the first period, the tech company will focus on the pilot in Utrecht. This may be followed by expansion to other major cities in the Netherlands. Over the next six months, the company aims to connect at least 20 shops to the platform.
