A large number of municipalities have temporarily suspended window times, giving entrepreneurs more options for supplying their shops. TLN and evofenedex previously called on municipalities to be flexible about this.

The following municipalities have temporarily suspended their window times:
Haarlem, Haarlemmermeer, Castricum, Assen, Breda, Arnhem (widening to 12 hours), Groningen (widening to 18 hours), Enschede, Den Bosch, Weert, Venlo (widening to 14 hours).

Veneer time adjustments are expected in the near future for the municipalities listed below:
Delft, Leiden, Rotterdam, The Hague, Gouda, Dordrecht, Utrecht, Nijmegen, Almelo, Zwolle, Deventer, Tilburg, Maastricht, Eindhoven, Ede, Gorinchem, Emmen, Leeuwarden and Apeldoorn.

According to the industry associations, a widening of window times is necessary to supply shops that operate with modified opening hours, or to provide supermarkets with extra deliveries due to crowds. "By adjusting window times, many shopkeepers who are currently struggling financially can shorten their opening hours and only open their doors later in the day," TLN writes on its website. "Then they can just manage with the cost of employing staff and reduce the use of energy costs. Also, the transport of food for supermarkets, for example, can be scheduled more efficiently if window times are suspended or extended."

The call has been taken up by the cabinet and the Association of Netherlands Municipalities (VNG). The latter has since called on all its members to extend window times.
