Since this week, warehouses that consider their warehouse to be a good and safe workplace can again register for the election Safest Warehouse of the Netherlands. In November, it will be decided who takes over the title from Abbott Logistics in Breda.
The election Safest Warehouse of the Netherlands is being organised for the thirteenth year in a row. Organisers such as BMWT and evofenedex note that more and more employers are aware of the fact that safe and healthy working offers advantages. It is said to lead to satisfied employees, increased efficiency and higher productivity. "Investing in safety does not cost money, it actually makes money," the organisation said. "Moreover, with more and more warehouses facing a shortage of good, skilled and motivated employees, a safe, healthy and pleasant working environment is a 'must' to bind and retain employees."
People, process and technology
The award is given to companies that are serious about safety in the warehouse. The jury examines whether the pillars people, process and technology are in balance. Companies can be awarded a bronze, silver or gold rating. The jury determines this rating based on the score on nine criteria, including legal obligations, monitoring, safety on the shop floor, management safety requirements and the working climate.
Two categories
As usual, there are two categories: large warehouses with more than 25 warehouse employees and small warehouses with 25 or fewer warehouse employees. Chairman of the jury is Professor René de Koster of Erasmus University.
Abbot Logistics winner 2017
Last year, gold in the large warehouse category went to Abbott Logistics in Breda, while silver went to Herbalife International and Bavaria N.V. Bronze was given to Koninklijke Gazelle, Megagroup Logistics Services B.V. and Philips Healtech.
The results will be announced during the Dag van het Magazijn on 15 November. Registration runs until 1 June 2018.
