AB Transport Group acquires as many as three competitors. The carrier is taking a majority stake in G. Bosman Transport. By merging G. Bosman Transport, Minnaard Transport and Internationaal Transportbedrijf Van de Swaluw, AB acquires three companies in one fell swoop.
Transport of agricultural products
AB Transport Group is originally specialised in the transport of potatoes. With the takeover, AB hopes to offer its clients a more complete package when it comes to the transport of other bulk agricultural products in Western Europe. G. Bosman Transport transports vegetables, grass, sugar beet, grains and fertiliser, among other things. Minnaard Transport specialises in pallet transport. International transport company Van de Swaluw provides pallet transport, conditioned transport and transport of bulk products.
"With this expansion, we can provide a broader service to our customers" said Dennis Wetenkamp, managing director of AB Transport Group. "The expansion is in line with our ambition to grow into the most valued logistics service provider in the agri and food chain."
Separate business unit
The bulk transport operations of G. Bosman Transport, Minnaard Transport and Internationaal Transportbedrijf Van de Swaluw will be merged into a separate business unit. Daily management will be in the hands of Wim Minnaard and Wiebe Bosman. This new business unit of AB Transport Group will operate under the name G. Bosman Transport.
The three companies employ two hundred people; it is unknown whether all of them will go with the new owner.
