Action is working together with Fiege in this regard. The logistics service provider will take on all logistics activities in the DC. The new logistics centre should facilitate further growth in Germany and other European countries. Last year, the retailer opened 197 new shops in the Netherlands, Germany, France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Austria. 60 of these were opened in Germany. "Given its size and population density, Germany is one of the key countries on which we will focus our growth strategy in the coming years," said Action CEO Sander van der Laan.
Fiege calls Action a "very important new client" in the FMCG segment Jan Fiege, director Real Estate Fiege: "The targets Action has set are a big challenge for us, but one we are happy to accept."
Action announced last year that it is building a distribution centre in Toulouse, France. This will be the retailer's fifth distribution centre. In France, Action also has a DC near Paris. In the Netherlands, the discounter supplies stores from two DCs: one in Zwaagdijk-Oost in North Holland, and one in Echt.
