Albert Heijn has transferred four million euros in overpaid logistics costs to franchisees. That is a large part of the amount entrepreneurs were owed. This writes Distrifood based on a letter from the franchise board.

The supermarket chain is currently embroiled in a lawsuit with the entrepreneurs over the reimbursement of logistics and distribution costs. Franchisees always pay Albert Heijn these costs in advance. The surplus is paid out a year later by the supermarket chain. In recent years, however, Albert Heijn has refused to do so because franchisees would still have to pay money due to a negative undistributed margin.

Albert Heijn now seems to want to accommodate entrepreneurs after all. Many entrepreneurs received between ten and twenty thousand euros. The amount would be separate from the lawsuit. The remaining amount has yet to be decided.
