Albert Heijn sees it as a 'logical next step' to start delivering hot meals at home. The supermarket chain is considering starting the service together with other (delivery) parties.
So says AH chief executive Wouter Kolk in the Parool. The supermarket giant already sells meal boxes where consumers can prepare a dish themselves. In doing so, it competes with players such as HelloFresh and Marley Spoon. "We have all the ingredients in house plus - via Allerhande - the recipes to make something out of it. You could just imagine us combining that with parties that can handle preparation and delivery."
Kolk would not give any insight into concrete plans to the newspaper. "But if anyone can do this, it's us," he said.
