Albert Heijn is pulling the plug on its lightning-fast delivery service Rappie. The supermarket chain tested for a year delivery within two hours.
To test whether there is a need for same-day delivery, Albert Heijn introduced the service on a small scale. From four branches in Rotterdam, groceries were delivered within two hours. For this, Albert Heijn worked with logistics startup Superbuddy. This platform links the order to a delivery driver, who is sent a shopping list and delivers it to the home within two hours.
The pilot lasted a year and has now ended. Rappie customers were informed about this yesterday, but they can still use Superbuddy, which will start shopping for customers at various shops from 1 December.
