The Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba has supplied 450 customers in Beijing
with ginger tea – via delivery drones. Neither Amazon
and Google have not yet managed to achieve this, even though they have been working on
developing delivery drones.

Light parcels
The delivery of ginger tea in Beijing was part of a test flight.
Tea was chosen because the packets are light and the drones
can handle this weight anyway. Following this, tests will also be carried out with flights from the distribution centres
in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
small parcels will be used here as well.

Regulations
Alibaba, like Amazon and Google, is coming up against regulations concerning
the use of drones. There are many rules governing the use of
airspace. For example, the Chinese military makes only one-fifth of its airspace available
to drones.
