Amazon is going to place orders in the boot of the car. The etail giant is currently testing the new service in Seattle under the banner AmazonFresh Pickup.
Right now, only employees of Amazon itself can participate. In the future, the service should become free for US subscribers of Amazon Prime, the subscription service where consumers get their products delivered for free. Consumers who use AmazonFresh Pickup do have to drive to a pickup point. They will then get their order delivered to their backbox.
This is not the first time Amazon has delivered in the boot. In 2015, it tested with DHL the ability to deliver into the boot when the owner is not present. This service was only possible for Audi owners. The boot could be opened by the relevant delivery driver.
