Now that commercial drone use has been restricted in the US, Amazon is testing its delivery drones across the border. Indeed, in Canada, the etail giant can experiment with the delivery drone to its heart's content.

Since a month ago, Amazon has received a licence from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the US to experiment with drones. Yet that licence only applies to an outdated model of Amazon. The delivery drone has since been improved and no licence has yet been issued for the improved version.

Amazon therefore decided to buy a piece of land in Canada, about 10 kilometres from the US border. In fact, the Canadian government does give the etailer permission to fly drones. Tests are currently underway to determine whether the drones are capable of avoiding obstacles and whether the devices are safe.
