Despite deploying robots, Amazon continues to hire new staff. For its distribution centres in the United States, the e-tailer is looking for as many as 50,000 staff.
This involves 40,000 full-time jobs. In August, the internet giant is organising job days, including in ten distribution centres. These are temporary jobs. The new employees are supposed to cover the rush at the end of the year. Several thousand employees are expected to gain permanent jobs.
By mid-2018, Amazon wants to employ as many as 130,000 new workers. By then, Amazon will employ around 300,000 people. In 2011, that figure was 30,000.
