To avoid wasting money and environmental pollution caused by empty trucks, Den Bosch-based Value
Value Engineers from Den Bosch created an app to provide insight into which truck still has room for certain goods, reports De Telegraaf.
The creators of the app are Hans Togtema and Jos van Haaren. They
were approached by a company that wanted insight into the locations of their
shipments. The outcome of that request became an app that links supply and demand of
transport to the locations of carriers. Providers of a shipment
shipment submit an order via the internet, so that carriers who still have a
have a spare spot can take that order. In this way
more efficient use of time and space. The data can provide a match to
this way, planning and the type of transport can be used optimally.
Sustainable
It is more sustainable to fill empty spaces in
trucks. These costs for those empty spaces are normally passed on to the
customer, but when the empty space is filled by another principals
filled, the cost to the first shipper goes down.
Too few users
The necessities to make the app work properly are not many.
A smartphone on which the app is installed and a mobile printer are
sufficient in most cases. The biggest problem that
the creators are currently facing is the number of users. To make optimal use
make optimal use of the app, more parties are needed who want to offer their freight
offer and carriers willing to fill the empty space.
