To put job-seeking logisticians in touch with companies, the day of logistics will be organised in Roosendaal this Saturday. This is sorely needed, according to the organisers, as jobs are said to be in abundance. During the day, there will be a market with employment agencies, schools and transport companies. They will inform about vacancies, training and available jobs in transport and logistics.
No shortage of work
There is no shortage of work in the sector, regional newspaper BN De Stem writes after interviewing some of the companies attending the day. The newspaper has several companies talking, all of which are looking for staff. For example, Sjel Wijngaards, director of Jan de Rijk Logistics in Roosendaal, is short of drivers. "I can place ten drivers for the domestic rides in no time," said Wijngaards, but no real numbers are known.
Roosendaal suitable region
The Day of Logistics will be held in Roosendaal because it is an ideal municipality for the sector. After all, many low-skilled people are said to live there. Next year, the Da Vinci College will therefore start the Mobility and Transport course. "Because logistics has become an important theme in Roosendaal. There are jobs in that for educated personnel," says Da Vinci College director Joseph Dekker.
Drivers wanted
Earlier this month on LogistiekProfs, we reported on the search for drivers in the transport sector. The profits of transport companies were said to have risen sharply last quarter, resulting in a high number of vacancies. The number of vacancies had not been this high since 2008, according to TLN. For some readers of LogistiekProfs, this came as a surprise. "I have been searching for months in the Breda area for a permanent job as a driver, but it just doesn't work out," Richard Kas responded.
LogistiekProfs is curious to know how you experience this. Do you notice anything in your environment from the positive coverage? Is your company recruiting a lot of new staff? Are employers queuing up for you? Let us know in a comment!
