Blokker is to automate and mechanise its distribution centre in Geldermalsen. To do so, it has engaged system integrator Inther.
Blokker is currently undergoing a thorough repositioning. The retailer hopes to reverse the negative results in the long term. Part of this repositioning is the conversion of the logistics organisation. The distribution centre in Geldermalsen is therefore being converted into an omnichannel centre.
Inther mechanises and automates Blokker DC
Inther has been commissioned to automate and mechanise the DC. The system integrator is currently preparing for the installation phase. The on-site installation should be fully operational by mid-2019.
The DC will then have a shuttle aisle with over 4,000 storage units, 65 Pick-to-Light carts, a Put-to-Wall solution supported by Put-to-Light and 60 sorting carts. An automatic bin stacker automatically stacks the bins from the shuttle onto dollies.

For the internal transport of order totes and shipping boxes, there are about 700 metres of Inther Conveyor Equipment conveyors, while the overhead Inther LC Software is there for Material Flow Control, inventory management in the shuttle and the gateway between the Locus WMS, the Pick-to-Light carts and the Put-to-Wall solution.
