Blokker is adding a shuttle system to its logistics operation in Geldermalsen. Items for both online and shop orders will soon be brought to pick employees via shuttles.

The retailer started a thorough repositioning in 2018 to turn around the negative results of recent years. The logistics operation also went through a shake-up. Together with Still, Centric and Inther, the distribution centre in Geldermalsen was converted into an omnichannel DC.

After two years, Blokker thinks it is time for the next step in Geldermalsen, Jeroen Bouman, project manager at Blokker, told Warehouse Totaal. Blokker has chosen to expand capacity with a shuttle system, of an as yet unknown brand. Shuttles will transport totes of items to employees, who will then distribute the products to customer totes. Orders for consumers and shops will mix.
