BLOM training will acquire regional training provider Arvelo in Geleen from 1 December 2016. With the takeover, BLOM hopes to strengthen its position in South Limburg. There, according to the company, there is high demand for well-trained forklift truck drivers.

BLOM took over Arvelo's training activities in Venlo back in 2014. Since then, the parties remained in contact about a full takeover. "The opportunity to take over a strong regional training provider, we could not pass up" says Roy Groothuis, operational director of BLOM trainings. "In addition, we are meeting the desire of a number of national relations to offer forklift training in South Limburg via open enrolment." Eventually, BLOM training will also start AWP and lifting training at the Geleen site.

According to BLOM training, the increase in logistics activity in Limburg means there is a high demand for well-instructed reach truck and forklift drivers in the south of that province. "We would like to help the labour market in South Limburg with the proper instruction of novice reach truck and forklift drivers. We challenge company recruiters and intermediaries to think about training women and 'gamers' as drivers of material handling equipment," the company said in a press release.

Henk Rebergen, the current owner of Arvelo believes he has found the right party in BLOM trainings to transfer all business activities to. "Of course it feels strange to hand over Arvelo, but it's right. My trainees and relations are in good hands. I have full confidence in that," says Henk Rebergen. After the official takeover on 1 December, Rebergen will advise companies on their logistics issues as an independent company.
