A logistical problem has forced automaker BMW to halt production at several plants. The German company is missing parts and does not yet know when production will be fully restarted.

The parts in question are said to be steering gear parts, which are supposed to come from Italy. Due to the missing parts, BMW had to partially shut down production in Leipzich. In China and South Africa, there was no work for a whole day, ANP reported. There were also delays in the production process at the Munich plant.

A special working group is to resolve BMW's production problems again. It is still unclear how long this will take and what damage BMW will suffer. According to the company, the financial damage is "manageable" for now.
