Belgian bpost may want to make further acquisitions on the Dutch parcel market. "Our customers see Belgium and the Netherlands as one market," said top executive Koen Van Gerven.

Acquisitions in niche segments

The ANP writes about this. In a call with journalists, Van Gerven reportedly said that bpost does not rule out acquisitions in niche segments of the Dutch parcels market. Bpost does not have an extensive network in our country, which makes a possible acquisition difficult market. In niche segments, that problem is less of an issue.

Bpost sees revenues rise, but costs too

The Belgian market leader in parcel delivery also announced second-quarter figures. Operating profit fell almost 12 per cent to 140 million euros. According to Van Gerven, such a result is in line with stated expectations for this year. The postal and parcel delivery company did see its revenues rise, but higher personnel and transport costs depressed profits.
