Coolblue wants to send a thousand installers onto the roof. In four Dutch cities, it will soon start selling and installing solar panels.

Coolblue has biggest plans in the field of solar energy. The e-commerce giant says it wants to become the "very largest solar panel specialist in the whole of the Benelux". Soon, the company will start selling and installing solar panels in Rotterdam, Amsterdam, Apeldoorn and Tilburg - cities where Coolblue has regional depots.

Wanted: one thousand installers

For that new service, Coolblue is looking for a thousand installers in the short term. "Our installers provide installation with a smile. We provide a fixed salary, nice colleagues and training opportunities to become a little better every day," Coolblue writes on its website. Coolblue plans to roll out the service to the rest of the Netherlands later this year.

Solar panels on Coolblue distribution centre

There are already solar panels on Coolblue's own roof. The roof of the warehouse in Tilburg covers 88,000 square metres and was completely covered with solar panels in autumn 2018. "This makes our mega-warehouse not energy-neutral, but even energy-positive," ceo Pieter Zwart said at the time. With the solar roof, Coolblue generates enough power to provide green energy for all CoolblueFiets and all its shops in addition to the warehouse.
