Clever marketing by web shop Coolblue. Various media reported today that Coolblue had been acquired by an as yet unknown party for 1 billion euros. At 16:00 this afternoon, Coolblue boss Pieter Zwart held a press conference on the subject, in which the sale of the web shop was indeed confirmed.
The rumours about the acquisition arose after Coolblue sent an internal mail to its employees earlier today about 'important news' that would be released later today. This mail was leaked, after which Coolblue became trending topic on Twitter in no time.
